Another Oscar's Farewell

This is sad news out of the Dominican Republic

A fortnight ago, 22-year-old star in the making Oscar Taveras hit a tying home run for the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series – a sign, many said, of the greatness that was to come from him in the future.
His fluid swing with upper-cut power had baseball people making comparisons to the great batting style of Ken Griffey Jr.
Today, two weeks later, baseball is in mourning over the loss of Taveras who was killed in a car accident Sunday in his native Dominican Republican.
Taveras played in seven of the Cardinals’ nine postseason games this month, going 3-for-7 in seven pinch-hitting appearances.
